Rock the Universe

I figured it was probably time to update my blog since I'm not doing anything on this fine night.

On the weekend of September 4th-6th I went to Universal Studios for Rock The Universe. It was a blast. So I'm going to tell you a little bit about it.

All the way following up to this concert weekend I had been pretty excited, but my hopes were slowly being crushed when I saw Hurricane Hannah Montana on her way. I had been praying and praying that this storm would go away and leave Florida the heck alone. I had my eyes glued to the TV watching it's every move. Well..it wasn't too bad. It definitely didn't interfere with my concert weekend. It was a little rainy and overcast on Friday on the way up to Orlando and throughout Friday night. It wasn't too bad, though. I watched alittle bit of Skillet, Relient K and Switchfoot on Friday night. At Rock The Universe the concerts are always less than enjoyable. You either watch from a very far distance or you get up at the very front. That's the only way to do it. If you get stuck in the middle, you may as well be locking yourself in a freaking sauna, with an extra super duper humidifier. I learned the hard way while watching Skillet. I had been standing there for two songs and was literally drenched. So suffice it to say that I didn't watch many concerts on this weekend. We were able to get on some rides on Friday night. Including the new Simpson's ride, before the whole entire park was filled up and the lines were astronomically long.
On Friday night when we left, I was absolutely exhausted. I was just ready to get to bed. I was falling asleep sitting up for our last meeting of the night. Then when we got back into our hotel room I was wide awake. Then by the time I finally drifted off into a light sleep, some elephants got out of the zoo and stayed overnight in the room above me. They kept me awake until 3 something in the morning and I called the front office to let them know that I was fed up. Did they stop? HECK NO! Then I guess they got tired from dancing and finally fell asleep. So I finally fell asleep for about four hours. THEN THEY STARTED AGAIN!! Seriously! Are you even kidding me?!?!? So I tried getting back to sleep and was totally unsuccessful. Four hours of sleep. That's it! So I eventually got up and started my day.
We hung around the hotel, ate breakfast, went for a cold swim in the pool, got ready for another hot day at Universal Studios, waited for the guys to wake up, then had to cut the lock on their door. Yeah, they wouldn't get up to unlock the door so the maintenence man had to cut the lock. Good job! Once that was all done and over with it was time for me to present my testimony. I had been nervous about it for awhile, because i'm not much of a public speaker. But in the end it turned out great! What was coming out of my mouth definitely was not me. It was all God! It was amazing! So after that we left and went to have lunch, then went to Universal. Another suffocating, hot day with unenjoyable concert. Although..what I saw of This Beautiful Republic was absolutely fantastic! We left the park early because we didn't want to stick around any longer. Early being about 9:30. So we went back to the pool and all went in the pool! That was alot of fun! Then I ended up laying my head on my pillow and fell fast asleep and definitely slept much better than the night before. Eight hours! Hoorayyy!
We all ate breakfast early and made it to Islands of Adventure early Sunday morning. It was another hot and humid day in Florida. We walked all the way to Islands of Adventure, then Abbie, Jenny and myself all had to walk back to the car because I left my ticket in the car. Dumb! So we got back, and it turned out I didn't even really need my ticket so they could take my finger print. They weren't finger printing...I guess it was better to be honest about it though. So we rode rides like crazy and it was hotter than the devils drawers. Two out of the three water rides were down. The only one that was actually opened was Popeye. The one that you get absolutely soaked on. So I went on it with Michael, Winnie and Joe. Then we got stuck on it. Fabulous! It was still fun though and really cooled me off. I was dry by the time we made it home! hah! I finally got the opportunity to go on The Hulk. I missed out the first time in the morning because I was getting my ticket from the van. So that was fun. We left and had dinner. Then we headed home and made a wrong turn and started heading back to Universal by accident! But there was a beautiful sunset, so I wasn't too upset about the whole thing. We had some fun and interesting conversations in the car. Now for some pictures:
