this past thursday i left all things electronic behind, minus my cell phone (without charger) and camera, and camped out. it was a blast. the annual church camping trip, and it didn't disappoint. for the last three years i've been a part of someone else's family for the trip, and it always proves to be a marvelous time. we left on thursday and came back home on sunday.
my favorite things include:
1. camp fires every morning and night.
2. roasting marshmallows.
3. smores.
4. long bike rides around the whole park.
5. going on walks on trails and around the campground whenever i felt like it.
6. reading a book for as long as i wanted and not feeling bad about it.
7. fellowship with some of my favorite people.
8. a devotion that came along at the perfect time.
9. laughing over a game of apples to apples late at night.
10. camp fire cooking.
two of my least favorite things:
the cold nights and the extreme pain after all the bike rides i wanted.
the good far outweighs the bad, though. just as it should be. i also received my first sunburn of the year. my nose is a bit peely today, but i wouldn't have it any other way.
after leaving the campground yesterday, we stopped by an antique store. it was my first time antiquing, and it was just delightful. the old books were the best. dr. suess looks better aged. plus, i couldn't go without snapping a photo of this cute little thing. no idea why i love the aged look on paper and cardboard so much, but i do. i really do. plans have been made in my head to have aged dr. suess in my own house. it will happen.
1. When I was in youth group at church, we used to go camping in Colorado every year. Your "favorite things" brought back some great memories. I love all those things you mentioned... campfires, late night games, outdoor devotions, and bike rides. Glad you had a good time.
ReplyDelete2. There's something about aged and worn things that I like, as well. I think it's a great idea to have old Dr. Seuss books in your own house someday :)
