friday evening was spent with two of my favorite people. jason and taya gray. jason was playing a show in boca raton, fl with jeremy camp, chasen, and the afters. jason got my friend michael and i tickets for the show. it was so good to see taya again. i hadn't seen her for almost a year. way too long! it was great to see jason again, also. i made banana bread for the both of them that morning, because it was jason's birthday on monday. i gave it to taya before the show started when she came out to say hi while we were waiting to be let in. she told me that she was really wanting banana bread that morning, and was super bummed because she wouldn't have any. so when she found out what it was when i told her, she smiled super huge. jason later told me that it 'saved her life', and that they both thought it was delicious. woo! i told jason that i was teaching myself to cook, so i hoped it was good and edible. i made two loaves, so there was one for my family. it's already gone, and it was delicious.
anyways, this post is not about banana bread.
it is about this: i always find myself grateful for my friendship with these two people. they have both been a huge blessing to me over the past couple of years that i've been a fan turned friend. and i'd like to think that i've blessed them as well. even if it comes down to little things like giving them banana bread.
and it is also about this: a year ago today i had jason come to my church for the first time. it was the first time i met taya. it was one of the most amazing things ever. they took me out to eat dinner with them, and we ate a mediocre pizza together. i had the opportunity to get to know them outside of a concert environment. i got to introduce my church to my favorite musician, and it was amazing.
then...almost a year later jason came and played at my church again, and stayed at my house. never would i have thought two years ago, the first time i met him, that i would be able to sit here today telling a story like that. that i can call jason and taya friends. i certainly do not deserve that, but that's the beautiful thing about God and what He is capable of doing. i am forever grateful to the gray's. jason's music has been there for me through some of my darkest times, and has been the soundtrack to my life for the past two years. it's amazing how God puts things together and brings people into your life, and can use them to bless you in ways you never thought were possible. i meet people like that constantly. not just these two.
. . . and that is all.
